Berry Smoothie for Candida Control Diet

When you are on a Candida control diet, you are limited in how many of these types of foods you can eat. You are not allowed to consume sugar or anything that converts to sugar, such as simple carbohydrates and most fruits. It’s important to have a healthy breakfast that fills you up, doesn’t make you feel deprived, and, for me, satisfies your sweet tooth. This smoothie recipe ticks all of those boxes and keeps me full for several hours. Although you must strictly follow the Candida Diet for the first six weeks, I recommend this smoothie as part of your daily routine because it is that delicious.

I used to make smoothies with fruit juice and various kinds of frozen fruits. Since only frozen berries are safe on the candida diet, I can still have my smoothies, but now I use almond milk to thin them down. You can try the almond flavor. Goat’s milk yogurt is available at Trader Joe’s. This recipe makes about 1 1/2 glasses of smoothie. I drink a glass, then put the rest in the fridge to drink in a couple of hours.

5-6 frozen strawberries

1C goat milk yogurt
1 tablespoon. ground flax meal
1-2 tablespoons almond butter
almond milk
1 scoop whey protein powder (non-soy and gluten-free)

Add everything except the protein powder to the blender, adding enough almond milk to thin the mix a bit but still leave the shake fairly thick. It will keep you full longer if it is thicker. When the strawberries are pulverized, run the blender while adding the protein powder. Serve 1.
