Why It’s Easier (And More Profitable) To Spend Money When Setting Up Your Copywriting Business Online

When looking to make money as a writer online, it is very easy to fall into what I call false economies.

This is when you do something to save money but it ends up costing you dearly, either in time or money.

Where this happens most is with learning.

If you want to grow a sustainable online business, you need to know how to do it first, and this can make you stumble in 2 ways: buying nothing or buying cheap.

Buying nothing means exactly that.

You want to learn but you don’t buy anything you need.

Instead, you waste your time browsing the internet for free newsletters, free courses, and free e-books.

And while all of these things will help, they won’t teach you everything you need to know.

Why?

Because nobody gives away their best information for free. People go online to make money and they cannot make money if they are not selling something.

Of course, there are people online who make money through advertising. Your websites don’t seem to sell anything through content, but they make money from visitors who click on your site’s ads.

But their content isn’t worth much because they don’t have salable information.

Free stuff online is useful, but the people who write it are not necessarily experts in their niche.

Likewise, just using free software also has its downsides because it will never be as good as the things you pay for.

Buying cheap is another false economy.

Just because something is priced low doesn’t mean you’re getting a bargain.

For example, I have seen too many people buy a computer based on price. They start looking by price instead of specs.

But what good is it to buy a computer that cannot do all the things you want?

When it comes to computers (or anything else), you need to search for exactly what you want first AND THEN worry about price. If you don’t have enough money, sell things you don’t need or cut back on nonessentials until you can afford them.

And if you need to buy a course that will teach you how to make something, buy it and don’t waste time looking for a “gift” or something cheaper.

Likewise, if there is any software that can help you save time, buy it.

I think my time is worth much more than money.

Not only that, but I can do a lot more work (and earn more money) when my time is not occupied with slow or unimportant tasks.

For example, when I started doing a lot of affiliate marketing, I found it much easier to promote a product if I owned it myself rather than saving money by not buying it and hoping and praying that it was a worthwhile investment for my clients, otherwise. They would never trust me or buy from me again.

When I wanted to submit marketing articles to an article directory every week, I took a course on how to write articles quickly that not only helped me write faster, but also showed me how to write better articles AND I kept writing my own. Article writing course in 15 minutes or less. So it was definitely a win-win situation when I invested in the article writing course because I quickly multiplied my original investment by over 1,000%.

And when I had too many websites to keep updating all on hand, I went out and bought the powerful Adobe Dreamweaver software, and it sped up my online work.

Now I also outsource jobs that I can’t or don’t want to do because it takes too long.

I once lost an entire week trying to edit an MP3 audio recording. I finally had to admit defeat and outsourced the job for $ 20 and had the edited file returned to me by a freelancer in less than 2 hours.

It left me wishing I just outsourced it in the first place.

So if you really want to do something with your new online business and keep making money for years to come, AND leave more time to write, don’t be a fake coin saver.
