Too many plugins

Mat 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Being a computer person, I couldn’t help but find ways to really optimize my computer usage. The same as with the Internet. I wanted to get the most out of my internet usage. I want greater speed and great results. I just wanted to have the best out of everything. And I guess it’s true for you too.

While searching for ways to optimize internet speed, I discovered that one of the reasons, or maybe the deepest reason, for slow internet speed is due to too many plugins (Firefox and Internet Explorer) or extensions (Google Chrome) that we have in our browsers. These things slow down as they also send thousands of bytes per second that we don’t necessarily need right now. Then, wanting our search results and even web pages to load faster, we got frustrated due to the slower speed.

That is also true in our daily life. We wanted faster results in our lives and we wanted to have the best of everything, including in our daily walk with Christ. We realized at some point that it seems like it takes forever to learn a thing or two. Sometimes we get frustrated because we can’t immediately see the glory of God manifesting in our lives the way we want it to be. You see, the worries of this life (our work, bills, debts, finances, and even ourselves) are like add-ons. We can’t focus on only showing one result on our life screens because at the same time, we also wanted to get a result on how our jobs are going, if our bills are close to due, or how much to pay. debt collectors, or where to find money to finance the needs of the family or perhaps when we could find a moment to sit back, relax and be pampered.

If we really want to see God manifest in our lives, then we must get rid of all those accessories. We have to focus on one thing: God. As we slowly remove those plugins, we see God’s revelation of himself become faster, just as when we minimize all plugins and let the browser do its main purpose: view search results and web pages. As we do the same thing – doing our main purpose in life – we see that we are the best at it. Then we see faster results on the main screen. So, God became more accessible to us when we focused only on Him on the screen and nothing and no one else.

And you? Are you having the same experience and want to see God only on the screen of your life and not on those plugins? Just get closer to God and let Him remove all those plugins so you can focus only on Him.
