There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus – Romans 8 Verse 1

All my Christian life, all my life as a Christian, I have been sinning. I have been filled with shame, guilt and condemnation. As a man who had a problem with lust, I always felt guilty about sexual sin until some good teachers of God’s Word set me free and gave me a new lease on life. keep reading…

One of the foundational verses they used was Romans 8:1 (New International Version); “Therefore there is no longer any condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

For years and years this verse had no effect on me and it certainly wasn’t true for me or my Christian life. As a porn addict, every few days I would fall and be wracked with guilt, shame, and condemnation.

This verse may be true for others, but it was not true for me, who always walked around in shame knowing that I was guilty of watching pornography and masturbating several times a week.

The new teachers I have come across have made me confess that I am the righteousness of Christ in God myself and not lose shape when I sin, and again confess that I am righteous and that it would have a positive effect on my life of sin.

Joyce Meyer and Andrew Wommack taught me that when I confess that I am righteous, my body will align with the confession and show that it is true. They said that by dwelling on what a bad sinner I am, and constantly thinking about not participating in sin, it would not stop sin, but rather encourage it.

They taught me that all my condemnation was placed on Jesus on the cross and that therefore there was no longer any place for condemnation in my life. They taught me that all my sins up to the moment of my death have been forgiven by God.

Knowing that all my sins have been forgiven has had a tremendous effect on me. And while my habitual sin hasn’t been completely stopped as of writing this, it has been at least 80% stopped. I feel so free from personal condemnation and I love this feeling of complete freedom in my life.
