Starcraft 2 Unit Counters Guide – Easily Master This Skin For Every Run

Here is a Starcraft 2 unit counters guide for beginners that you can use early in the game to figure out what to defend with if the enemy is attacking you with a certain unit. We’re going to go over the first few counters in the game because that’s the biggest moment that people often have trouble with.

Early Zerg Unit Counters

If the Zerg player is attacking you with these units, I’ll show you what to repel him with. Let’s get into this and get started:

Zerglings are one of the most common units in the entire game, and if you get attacked early, you need to defend yourself with a few different units.

Zerglings are countered with Helions, Archons, and Banelings.

Banelings are countered by Thors, Stalkres, and Roaches.

Roaches are countered with MMM, Immortals, and Ultralisks.

Early in the game you won’t see many other units coming out of the Zerg lair, so you should memorize the above. Know which of your special units are great against the Zergling or the Baneling, because that is a VERY common combination of units that any Zerg player will hit you with early. Let’s go.

Early Protoss Unit Counters

The Protoss have a wide variety of strategies, but generally attack with the same type of units. Zealots, Stalkers, Templars, etc. These are some of the counters you can use with any of the races against these common units from the early games.

Zealots are countered with Helions, Colossi, and Roaches.

Immortals are countered by packs of marines, zealots, or zerglings.

Stalkers are countered with Marauders, Immortals, and Zerglings.

High Templars are countered with Ghosts, Zealots, Colossi, and Roaches.

The Protoss will usually attack early with one of these units, so you know you can counter them by grouping any of the listed counters with them.

Land unit counters

The Terrans are a very versatile race and almost always run with their MMM and/or some other units added in there, so we’ll go over some of the more common counters that will make them nervous when they’re attacking your base. .

Marines are countered with Colossi, High Templar, Banelings, and Siege Tanks.

Marauders are countered with Zealots, Marines, and Zerglings.

Siege Tanks are countered by Thors, Immortals, and Zerglings.

Hellions are countered with Stalkers, Roaches and Thors

If you’re fighting a terran, you’re bound to encounter these units early in the game. These counters are also some of the easiest units you can make, so it helps to know that counters aren’t necessarily expensive. Some of the best counters are just “cheap” units, like Zerglings that counter expensive siege tanks.
