Perfect Hotel in Italy – Cinque Terre, Monterosso

The chosen method to get to Monterosso is by train… 4 hours drive from Rome or 3 hours from Milan… both international airports. A short five-minute walk takes you from the station to the lobby of La Spiaggia. Via Lungomare is between the hotel and the blue Ligurian sea… nearby are colorful shops and umbrellas that wind along the sand and rocks overlooking the beaches.

Andrea Poggi has owned this grand old hotel for years. Efficient and friendly staff (mostly family members) work in the reception area and give new meaning to the art of hospitality. There are 19 rooms…some with balconies facing the ocean. Beneath the hotel is a seafront promenade of cafes, bars and shops that are buzzing with happy guests and the sweet aromas of local delicacies. Late night street noise is tempered by…waves crashing against surrounding beach rocks…If you’re a night owl, you’re probably part of the deal.

The cost saving potential of this location is excellent…you can base yourself in Monterosso and take day trips to other popular tourist attractions with much higher room rates…Florence, Milan, Pisa, Portofino, Portevenere, Lavant, Santa Margherita Ligure, and La Spezia. A great way to visit the “Italian Riviera” and experience the hustle and bustle of the larger cities and return each night to the same quiet and peaceful hotel resting by the sea.

La Spiaggia is one of the most comfortable hotels in Europe. Rooms are clean, well designed with amenities that really matter to make your stay special. The closet has plenty of storage space with ample wooden hangers and a large safe. Modern electrical systems come with many extra outlets for charging cameras, cell phones, and laptops. Wall-mounted flat-panel TVs offer two English stations BBC, CNN, and channels in Spanish, Italian, German, and French… to suit most international travelers. Private in room baths are well designed…newly renovated with plenty of counter space and extra large fluffy towels. Amenities include… hair dryer and a very efficient hot water system. The elevator is fast and always available. It’s hard to find many of these hotel amenities in small Italian towns. European travelers know that these little extras can help make their stay a special event.

The breakfast room is open from 8:30 to 10:00 am and offers abundant options each morning. There is fresh fruit, yogurt, cheeses, savory croissants and homemade breads, cakes, cereals, muesli, juices, jams, pastries, boiled eggs, ham, prosciutto, coffee and tea with hot or cold milk.

La Spiaggia does not accept credit cards, but you get a 10% discount in cash.
The room price per night includes… parking, beach access, breakfast and a great experience. This magnificent hotel is recommended for travelers of all ages.
