Mystery Case Files – Madame Fate

Mysterious Files: Madame Fate continues the award-winning Mystery Case Files Hidden object game series. The series began with the original success. MCF: Hunstville game, followed by the equally successful MCF: Top Suspects Y MCF: Ravenhearst aftermath. MCF: Madame Fate continues this fine tradition, adding more mini-games and features as well.

MCF: Madame Fate continues the exploits of the young detective who starred in MCF: Ravenhearst. In this game, you (as a detective) are hired by Madame Fate, the owner of a typical carnival, to solve the mystery of her murder. Yes, his own murder. That’s right, she’s one of those fortune-tellers who can see into the future. Unfortunately, she is not good enough to see who the person is who will murder her, hence the reason she hired you.

Among his suspects are the many “interesting” people he employs to run the carnival. The bearded lady, the sword eater, the bunny wizard in a hat, and a real-life mermaid appear on the suspect list. You help Madame Fate find the suspect by searching for clues at the carnival. Like any hidden object game, the main part of this section is to examine each area of the carnival for a list of cleverly hidden items within a time limit. Beautifully painted areas include the carousel, the cake eating booth, the love tunnel, and even the clown trailer (yes … it’s disgusting).

You can also interview some of the carnival employees, like the lovely mermaid on the right. This is where MCF: Madame Fate improves upon the previous games. To access each employee, you must conquer a puzzle. These games range from a hangman-style word guessing game to a puzzle that rearranges the letters to make the correct words. Once you solve the puzzle, you can see the employee.

Once she has found all the clues related to a certain suspect, Madame Fate will use her crystal ball to try to reveal the future. This is where this game improves on its predecessors. Looking at the crystal ball will activate a new minigame like the one shown to the left. These abstract puzzles require a lot of out-of-the-box thought and imagination to solve.

But fear not! Each stage of the game comes with limited hints that can be used when you get stuck. There are also special items in each area of the carnival that behave differently and can be used to replenish your tracks and unlock secret locations!

If you like the Mystery Case Files series, the award-winning MCF: Madame Fate is a worthy sequel that will surely live up to your expectations. If you are new to this series or hidden object games in general, this is one of the best games to start with.
