Mosaic art dates back 4,000 years and is done by creating images or designs with small pieces of colored glass, ceramic, stone, or some other material. Mosaic floors have been found in the ruins of fourth-century Roman dwellings, as well as on the walls of ancient chapels.

Marble and tumbled stones are also used in mosaic tables. Because mosaic surfaces are made by hand, compared to other materials, they are brittle. This isn’t to say you can’t feel comfortable using the surface freely, but during the off-season, take precautions and store your furniture indoors: especially in the cold winter.
