Milan is a place of contrast and culture, poverty and incredible wealth, so you would think that it is like any other major city, but if you did you would be wrong: Milan is different.
Milan is Italy’s second largest and richest city, and without a doubt the home of international fashion. Which makes Milan bustling and busy, but not in a bad way, Milan is hip, fun, fast and furious.
And it gets better, Milan is achingly attractive too, in fact some say Milan is a cross between sublime Venice and artsy Rome, but with one key difference, Milan doesn’t rely on tourism for income.
Milan is home to most of Italy’s major industries and the Italian Stock Exchange, so tourists feel less pressured to walk the streets and there are fewer tawdry tourist attractions, because the city is not dependent on of your dollar, pound or yen to survive and neither do your people.
So what is there to see in a place that isn’t really designed to fleece the tourist every time you wonder? Well, the answer is that there is a lot to see and here is just a small sample.
The incomparable La Scala Opera House, the incredibly elaborate Cathedral, the Castello Sforzesco and Leonardo da Vinci’s mural painting The Last Supper, which despite being bombed in World War II is still in one piece.
And of course Milan is probably more famous for fashion than anything else. So any brand that is a brand calls Milano home and these brands include Gucci, Versace, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and Prada.
Milan is the place where you can not only peek into the corporate headquarters of these elegant fashion houses, out in the wild, so to speak, and gawk at their skinny employees, but do so much more!
You can go shopping in the stores of the fashion houses, where you will find the latest creations at very creative prices, but if your budget does not exceed three zeros for a scarf, then there is still hope for you. Because in the trés chic Quadrilatero d’Oro, or Golden Square for us mere mortals, you’ll find last year’s label bargains, designer label seconds and, better yet, emerging brands that haven’t quite mastered the market yet. art of adding so many zeros to your price tags.
On the other hand, if you have come to Milan simply to relax, there is no better place than the riverside area known as Navigli. There is probably nowhere in the world more peaceful than sitting in a Canal side cafe, restaurant or old fashioned ice cream parlor known locally as a Gelaterie and simply savoring the atmosphere and aromas.
In front of you is clear, sparkling blue water with brightly colored boats moored to the causeway, and all around you are Italians doing one of the things they are most famous for: eating.
The smell of seafood rapidly cooking with White Wine and Garlic mixes with the delicious aroma of Pure Vanilla Ice Cream made the way only Italians know how and all of this is accompanied by the glorious laughter that greets you as soon as the milanesas leave. to smile at you
Milan is a City happy with itself, and without too much pretension once you get away from the Quadrilatero d’Oro of course, and that makes it a great place to visit.
In August Milan is pretty empty and there’s a good reason for the locals to go on vacation somewhere cooler because August is hot so if you’re looking for a hotel you can probably book a top hotel at a reasonable price. very attractive price
