Meditation Exercise – The Secret Smile

The secret smile is one of Dr. Glenn Morris’s exercises and he wrote about it in his book Path Notes of an American Ninja Master. Those of us who teach his form of martial art, Hoshinjutsu, also teach this regularly in our classes. This is actually a pretty easy exercise and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Energy flows better through a relaxed and happy body and you should get in the habit of making this a regular part of your practice.

Hit the meditation position of your choice. Take some time to do the grounding exercise and relax your breathing. Put a smile on your face and keep it there.

To start the Secret Smile, first squeeze your toes together as hard as possible, until it starts to hurt. Relax them and feel the sensation that follows a kind of relaxed, happy feeling, glad that I’m not strongly triggered. Pull that feeling up through your feet, then up through your ankles, and up through your calves. Feel it go up through your knees, then through your thighs and through your hips. Feel your muscles relax as you do this. Draw the sensation up your spine and up over your head and down to the point where your tongue touches the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. Mix the feeling of relaxation with the saliva in your mouth and then swallow it and feel it fall through your body relaxing it as you go.

Think of a time when you did something right. It can be any event you want, but think of a time when you did something really well and everyone knew about it. Delete the event and just keep the feeling. Take that feeling down to your toes and then bring it up through your feet, then up through your ankles and up through your calves. Feel it go up through your knees, then through your thighs and through your hips. Draw the sensation up your spine and up over your head and down to the point where your tongue touches the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. Mix the competent good feeling with the saliva in your mouth and then swallow it and feel it fall through your body charging you with the good feeling as you go. Let it mix with the first.

Think of a time when you laughed, a good deep laugh that you couldn’t control or stop. Now remove the reason for laughter, but keep the feeling. Take that feeling of laughter down to your toes and then pull that laughter up through your feet, then up through your ankles and up along your calves. Feel it go up through your knees, then through your thighs and through your hips. Draw the sensation up your spine and up over your head and down to the point where your tongue touches the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. Mix the feeling of happiness and laughter with the saliva in your mouth and then swallow it and feel it flow down your body feeling your body laugh as you go. Let him mingle with the others.

Think of a time when you were in love, really, completely, 100%, madly in love. Take out the person or persons. Take that feeling down to your toes and then pull it up through your feet, then through your ankles and up through your calves. Feel it go up through your knees, then through your thighs and through your hips. Draw the sensation up your spine and up over your head and down to the point where your tongue touches the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. Mix the loving feeling with the saliva in your mouth and then swallow it and feel it fall through your body charging you with complete and unconditional love. Let him mingle with the others.

Think of the best orgasm you’ve ever had. Take the person or people out and just hold the feeling of orgasm. Take that feeling down to your toes and then bring it up through your feet, then up through your ankles and up through your calves. Feel it go up through your knees, then through your thighs and through your hips. Draw the sensation up your spine and up over your head and down to the point where your tongue touches the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. Mix the sensation with the saliva in your mouth and then swallow it and feel it fall through your body charging you with the good feeling as you go. Let him mingle with the others.

Feel the combination of the energies now and feel the combined energies swirling at your feet. Take the sensations down to your toes and then pull that sensation up through your feet, then through your ankles and up through your calves. Feel it go up through your knees, then through your thighs and through your hips. Feel the happy, relaxed, loving, competent sexual energy as it flows up your spine and over your head and down to the point where your tongue touches the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth. Mix the combined feelings with the saliva in your mouth and then swallow it and feel it fall through your body and then let it flow back up to the top of your head and then down to your feet.

Play around with this for a while, run it as often as you can. This is how you should feel all the time; relaxed, happy, loved and sexy. As you get better at this, you will be able to run it continuously.
