Link Building – Where Consistency Matters

Link building efforts are meant to get a website listed organically. Links are definitely the important aspect of ranking, but there are many other factors to consider when building links as well. Among all, the key factor is consistency! Let’s say you’re building 50 quality inbound links a day and you’re maintaining that pace for over a year, that’s okay, you should keep going. But, if you take a break for a month or two, it can be a big mistake.

Why consistency is good?

Now let me explain this to you in detail. Google, yahoo! and other search engines use inbound links to determine the quality of a website, which ultimately affects the website’s ranking in organic search results. For example, you have a web design website. Maybe you’ve put some links to quality and themed sites at the top of the page, and managed to rank higher in SERPs. But what happens after a few days when those links get camouflaged by other links on that page and visitors can’t find them?

When that happens, the search engines give weight to other quality websites and you will see a steady decline in rankings. Then you will have to fight for a higher ranking again!

How can you avoid this BIG mistake? It is easy. If you worry about building links only once or twice a month, then you are dead wrong. If you are thinking of making a lasting impact on your website’s search engine rankings, all link building campaigns need to be stable and consistent.

Consistent link building and SEO success

Fortunately or unfortunately, all SEO efforts need to be done consistently, as frequent changes in links and/or content easily attract search engines to your website. The main reason behind this is search engine algorithms that encourage you to appear natural. If you’re not building links consistently, the search engines would be the first to judge your disbelief as they consider it a ‘non-organic’ link building activity. The theory underlined is that if you want to show “organic” link building, you should focus on building links with a consistent speed rather than building too many links too fast.

If you are clear about your SEO goal, start building links as consistently as possible. You can please the spider and help him build links with ease.
