Jim Carrey’s Last Movie Roles

Jim Carrey has become an accomplished actor since he hit the big screen in the early 1980s. Although Carry made some of his first movies, he really became a household name on Mad TV. It was here that he showed the world his true talent and his quirky physical comedy that would catapult his career. He went on to play some of our favorite roles like Ace Ventura and Lloyd Christmas (Dumb & Dumber). If you’re wondering what Jim Carrey has been up to lately, this article highlights his most recent work.

A Christmas Carol (2009)

Disney’s retelling of the Charles Dickens novel stars Jim Carrey, Jim Carrey, and, well, Jim Carrey. The story is about Scrooge and how bitter he became over the wonderful Christmas holidays. Jim Carrey plays several characters in this movie thanks to the magic of animation and makeup. He plays; Scrooge, Ghost of Christmas Past, Scrooge as a boy, Scrooge as a teenager, Scrooge as a youth, Scrooge as a middle-aged man, Ghost of Christmas Present, Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. This movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to The Future, The Polar Express) and contains some truly amazing effects. Great movie to watch while on vacation, but can be a bit scary for young children.

I love you Phillip Morris (2009)

Jim Carrey stars as Steven Jay Russell, a con man who tells the story of his life on his deathbed. Russell began his adult life as a happily married police officer who plays the organ in church and spends most of his free time searching for his birth mother. After Russell is in a car accident, his life changes completely. He leaves his wife to find his true self as a gay man and moves to Miami to live a luxurious lifestyle. Russell soon discovers that this expensive lifestyle is hard to keep up with, making him a con man. Russell ends up trapped and sent to prison where he meets and falls in love with Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). Realizing his love for Morris, Russell will do whatever he can to be with his true love. This movie may not be Carrey’s best work, but it does have some laughs.

Yeah Man (2008)

Jim Carrey stars as Carl Allen, a down-on-his-luck banker with an extremely ordinary life. Carl attends a motivational seminar in which he encourages everyone to say “yes” to everything. Though skeptical, Carl embraces this mantra and finds his world turned upside down. He gets a promotion at work and a beautiful new girlfriend. Although life seems to be getting better, Carl quickly discovers that the new lifestyle he has adopted is impossible to maintain. Carry returns to his happy and lucky comedic acting and performs quite well in this movie. The feel of the film is very similar to Bruce Almighty, which he starred in five years earlier. The movie was very predictable, but it’s worth watching if you don’t have anything to do on a Friday night.
