How to spend a night in the Tremont neighborhood

As a thriving community, the Tremont neighborhood has become an anchor for Cleveland’s cooking and art scene. A date night with friends in Tremont seems like a great idea, but it can be overwhelming if you are looking to go somewhere other than the main venues.

While Lyft and the lot expansion have resolved Tremont’s parking problems, two legitimate concerns remain:

  1. Where you should eat

  2. Where should you go once you’ve finished eating?

I lived in Tremont for about 4 years. I have eaten at all the restaurants, drunk at all the bars, and had all the late night snacks. If there’s one person who can help you spend the night in Tremont, it’s me.

START YOUR NIGHT IN THE TREMONT NEIGHBORHOOD WITH TONY’S SOUTH SIDE

Your focus here should be on pre-dinner drinks, small snacks, and good conversation to help you get out of your workweek. To do that, there is no better place than Ton y’s. Located on Professor Ave and open on Fridays and Saturdays from 7pm to 1am, Tony’s is a Greco-Roman family property dating back to the 1950s. You can’t go wrong if you order a Vodka Martini and meatballs here. For recommendations you can always ask Elleny, she is the waitress and co-owner.

EAT DINNER AT GINKO

About the most difficult decision of your night. Most likely someone in your group will say: “Let’s go to Barrio!” or “the Southside patio is open.” Ignore their demands, go to the basement below Dante’s and enjoy the best sushi in Cleveland. GINKO’s non-threatening menu is made up of signature cocktails, amazing appetizers (order the spicy scallop chips), and of course great sushi. Quentin Krohe is one of the best general managers in Cleveland; if you have questions about the menu, ask him.

AFTER DINNER, GO TO THE POLISH VETERANS ALLIANCE

Across the street from GINKO is the Polish Veterans Alliance. If you are not a member of this Polish post, an easy solution is to go in and tell them that you are Polish. Pay the $ 10 for an annual membership – stick with the $ 2 drinks, the people watching, and the music.

NEXT, GO TO EDISONS (NOT FOR THE PIZZA)

When it comes to beer selection, you just have to find one to make your night. If you are having a hard time finding a beer you like at Edison’s, you probably don’t like beer. Edison’s may be a little tight when you walk in, but it opens up to a much larger and longer space. They have one of the best courtyards in Cleveland and they have live music every Saturday night at 9.

END YOUR NIGHT IN THE FLYING MONKEY

It would be fair to call the Flying Monkey a dive, but it has a neighborhood charm that most dives don’t. As a result, the waiters are friendly (and generous) and most of all, the backyard begs you to sit down and order more drinks.

BACK TO EDISONS

This time it’s for the pizza. If you are the type that enjoys the simple, buy the pepperoni; if you like the specialty, you should order the spinach with spicy bacon and not think twice.

Of course, no frame is perfect.
