Healthy Weight Loss Recipes: Guilt-Free Burger and Fries

Fast food is a no no when you’re looking to lose weight (unless you’re having a cheat day). You’re better off sticking with healthy recipes that help you achieve your weight loss goals rather than hinder them. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a “fast food” type meal that you’re dieting for. This is one of my favorite healthy burger and fries weight loss recipes. You get the taste of the chip shop without the extra calories and guilt that comes with it.

The burgers are made from extra-lean ground beef or ground turkey and the fries (or wedges) are made from sweet potato, a delicious alternative to the traditional variety. We will also be using coconut oil instead of other oils because of the amazing health benefits that coconut oil provides. It also provides a pleasant aroma when cooking with it.

Healthy Weight Loss Recipes: Guilt-Free Burger and Fries

for 4 people

Ingredients for Burgers

• 500g extra-fine lean beef (or turkey works well too)

• 1 onion, finely chopped

• 1 chili – finely chopped

• 1 egg

method

1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, divide it into 4 portions.

Knead each portion so that everything sticks well, then flatten

in the form of a hamburger

2. Heat some coconut oil in a pan and fry for a few

4 minutes each side.

Ingredients for Wedges

• 2 large sweet potatoes

• 1/2 teaspoon chili powder

• 1 teaspoon of paprika

• 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted

method

1. Slice sweet potatoes into wedges.

2. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl then place on a large baking sheet in the oven at around 200-220 degrees C for 30-40 minutes.

3. Serve alongside a bed of steamed vegetables.

This healthy weight loss recipe is perfect for those evenings or weekends when you feel like eating “dirty food” and don’t want to undo all your hard work and diligence in sticking to whatever program you’re on. I often have this as a ‘clean’ cheat meal. Because you’re cooking it yourself and you can control how much and what you use, you’ll be more aware of the food you’re eating, which means you’ll have more control over your results. Give it a try and let me know how it goes. I’d love to hear your feedback on this and if you have any suggestions to improve the recipe, I’d love to hear them.
