Good people, bad people, and those in between – they all share a common theme!

The other day I was talking to an international acquaintance who enjoys studying such interesting topics as sociopathic and psychopathic behavior. Yes, I told you it was intriguing. Anyway, she has come to the conclusion after about 50 years of studying such people during her life experience that essentially most people are good people, but don’t kid yourself, she reminds us, there are bad thinkers among us! ! Well, I doubt that would surprise any of us, but I think you might find our conversations relevant.

He explained to me that he believed that 75-82% of people worldwide are normal, that is; “They have the normal range of emotions and are basically good human beings.”

Okay, that’s a good starting point to dig deeper into this topic. You see, she may believe this is the case, and it may be, but we have no way of quantifying it, and really little to no empirical evidence because socio-psychological researchers (many of whom are certified insane themselves) use their views to skew the data to prove they are right to further their own causes (in my opinion).

However, it also points to the inordinate number of psychopaths and sociopaths who are drawn to business and politics. That would be hard to deny, especially on the political front, after all, to get elected one has to be a good liar and comfortable with “being on stage” all the time, and continually lying through their teeth, yes, while smiling . for the camera. It goes well with the territory and honest people, they just have a much harder time in politics for obvious reasons.

So, just like the accusation one might level against a corporate leader or a politician, it tends to apply to the entire populace that appears. Therefore, I suppose I ask; what the difference is, and he reiterated that 75-82% might be correct, but we just don’t know, and it would seem that psychopaths would be drawn to careers in which they can excel, like politics for example.

To be fair though, I met a psycho the other day who approached me in the Starbucks courtyard from the bus stop to burn some change for me. Now he’ll never be in politics, but along with his story was that of a textbook sociopath, not that I excelled in my college psychology class, but you get the point. In fact, he will practice his efforts somewhere, even if he never mastered his skills to take him to the leadership level of a company or political position.

Humans, regardless of their level in society, use other humans to serve their will. Like the guy at the bus stop trying to beg, what’s the difference? After discussing this later, my international acquaintance adjusts the figure to 75-80%, which again, may or may not be. But she asks me if I reject her theory. Yeah, well yeah, I sort of reject this theory, especially when applied specifically to political figures or corporate leaders, in the sense that we would be calling a group of people because of their profession.

Also, consider this: if the 75-80% (good people or good little humans) allow their labeled psycho personas to control them through indifference, fear, or for whatever reason, which inevitably leads to a spillover and produces chaos, so they are Aren’t they really to blame in the end, as much or more than the individual who took advantage of them? And it is that indifference and weakness of character that is arguably the real problem in that case.

So one could argue that there are “little good humans” who are a big problem and there are “little big bad humans” who are a problem. And yet, they all share one main characteristic: EVERYONE IS HUMAN! Okay, as usual, you are welcome to email me with any questions or concerns, but I ask that you consider all of this.
