Ask These Three Questions Before Deciding On A Movie Date Night

For a classic first date night, watching a movie is always a great option. Your first night together should be fun, stimulating, and enjoyable. The process should be easy and relaxing as well. So when it comes time to decide which movie to watch, it shouldn’t be a hassle. Sorting through all the options, theaters, and ratings can seem like a big deal. Here are three questions to ask before deciding on a date night movie.

  1. Where will you find the information?

Watching a movie should be a relaxing activity before, during and after. Deciding which one to watch requires that you have some basic information available or on hand. For example, what movies are still in theaters? What are the highest grossing movies? Finding this information does not have to be difficult. Verify:

  • Your circle of friends: The people you date or work with on a regular basis will have similar tastes in film to yours. You can talk about what you did over the weekend and/or what recent movies you’ve seen. If you get a good recommendation from a friend, chances are you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you consider it.
  • Movie Review Sites: If you don’t entirely trust the opinions of your closest friends, or if your taste is very different from most of the people around you, using a movie review site could help. Checking out the ratings and reviews from critics is a good way to determine which movies will be perfect for your night out.
  • Weekly Local Magazines – A weekly magazine is usually available in larger towns or cities and tends to highlight all the activities in the local area for that week. They will also tend to have movie review sections complete with showtimes, ticket information, and critical reviews from both local critics and audience members.

  1. What kind of movie should you watch?

There are too many types of genres to list in this article. However, some genres are currently more popular than others. Sci-fi movies, comic book movies, and horror movies are all the rage right now.

  • Science Fiction Movies: The Star Wars, Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Annihilation movies all count as movies with strong science fiction stories. Taking powerful questions facing our current society and projecting its potential problems into future scenarios seems like a good way to make a successful movie these days.
  • Comic-Based Movies: Marvel and DC comics continue to feature movies that expand on pre-existing stories in various superhero comics.
  • Horror- The horror genre is expanding into subgenres that move away from the typical monster or slasher movie. Today, immensely creative psychological thrillers are gaining in popularity.

  1. What kind of movie theater?

Customers demand more from their theaters. With ticket prices as high as they are, moviegoers demand a quality viewing experience for their hard-earned money.

  • Reclining Seats: Some movies offer that “at home/on the couch” experience you’d get if you stayed home and watched a movie on your own big screen.
  • Movie grill: Other movie theaters prefer to indulge your cravings for fresh craft beer and delicious food served right up to your movie.

Consider these three questions before deciding which movie to take your date to.
