In the past, we have seen many people interested in breeding Asian arowanas for commercial purposes. They choose this freshwater fish among other Arowanas because it has the highest commercial value so far, especially the golden crossback, red and red tail golden Arowanas (RTG). These three can fetch the highest values in the world market because the Chinese believe in their ability to bring good luck to their businesses. Later, as the Chinese became more prosperous with their businesses, the demand for Asian Arowanas continues to increase.
However, there are problems with Arowana care and with the breeding of Asian Arowanas because they are picky about their breeding environment. Until now, only a few countries in Asia are successful in breeding them. These are Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. They also want the right climate and optimal mix of water and soil in their mud ponds which they need while breeding.
