An effective bodyweight cardio workout for fat loss

Can bodyweight cardio really be that effective for burning fat? Yes, yes, and another yes! I was first introduced to bodyweight exercises a couple of years ago. At first I was very skeptical due to my bodybuilding background. He just couldn’t imagine using his bodyweight as a muscle-building tool, let alone a form of cardio routine. I trained for a whole year with bodyweight exercises and was very impressed with the actual results. I felt like I had enough muscle mass so I wanted to lose weight by doing really hard cardio.

Using your own body weight for cardio

The problem I ran into was the inability to use a treadmill or stationary bike for cardio. I also couldn’t get out for any kind of speed work because it was too cold outside. I knew I didn’t have much to work with, so I did some research online. I came across a bodyweight routine that was specifically designed for an intense cardio workout. After just a few times of bodyweight cardio, I was an instant believer. I saw a change in my body that I hadn’t seen in years. I really started to notice that both my arms and abs were showing much more definition than ever before.

Bodyweight cardio is more effective than traditional cardio

The problem with traditional cardio is that it’s long and boring and provides minimal results. With bodyweight cardio you can really mix and match different moves to keep your workouts intense, fresh, and new. Here is the bodyweight cardio routine I did to lose weight in no time.

1) 60 jumping jacks

2) Walking lunges

3) Spiderman push-ups

4) Spiderman rises

5) Hold squat for 45 seconds (squat with back pushing against a wall)

6) Planks (60 seconds)

7) 5 burpees

8) 25 High Knees

Note: Once you have completed each exercise without stopping, only then take a 1 minute break. Then complete the entire routine 2 more times in the same manner. You should be pretty gassed up after this. If you still feel like you have a bit more energy I would recommend another 15-20 minutes of high intensity interval training to burn even more fat. Only doing this type of training a few times a week. You should have a better looking body faster than you ever thought possible.

Bodyweight Cardio is an excellent workout to break the plateau

If you’ve been exercising for an extended period of time, you may succumb to a plateau. You feel that your body has not made any noticeable changes. I’ve found that bodyweight cardio has really helped me shed a few extra pounds whenever I’ve felt stuck at a fat-burning plateau. It’s also a great tool if you’re stuck in hotels because you don’t need a lot of space. So no matter where you are, use your own body weight for a powerful cardio workout.
