About Sonic the Hedgehog

In 1991, when Nintendo’s Mario ruled the video game world, Sega launched its new genre of games in the form of Sonic the Hedgehog. The game was very successful with more than 50 million copies sold. Sonic gave Nintendo’s Mario Bros a tough challenge on the video game path. Sonic is known for his supersonic speed. It also appears with some unique elements such as jaw-dropping loops, super spin board, and awesome boss battles.

When Sega’s research and development department was working on creating Sonic, several other characters were being considered until Sonic was finally cast. A special task force was created specifically to work on the project and the team was called the Sonic Team. Masato Nakamura gave the amazing soundtrack to the character. Sonic was prominently displayed in blue to match the blue in the Sega logo. Sonic’s appearance often changed depending on the medium and the theme of the episodes. Sonic was originally rendered as 1: 2 in relation to head to height, but designer Yuji Uekawa gave Sonic a new look for a new Sonic Adventure. He appeared as a tall, thin character with long legs and a less balloon-like body.

Sonic was becoming so popular that Sega released a new animated series called The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic fought the evil Dr. Robotonik and his army of robots. On the show he appeared as a hero fighting the evil government of Dr. Robotonik to liberate his world.

Sonic has always been a Sega mascot and remains one of the most legendary video game characters of all time. Sonic has also been used as a logo on various Sega sponsorships. Sonic is an older character, but he has shown that he will live for some time and continue to make great games.
