Do you love hot dogs on the fire? The following recipes are different versions of this classic camping food.
ANGELS ON HORSEBACK
8 sausages
8 cheese strips 2 1/2 to 3 inches long x 1/4 inch
8 thin strips of bacon, sliced
8 sausage buns
Toothpicks
Kitchen forks
Cut the pockets lengthwise into 8 sausages, long enough to hold a string of cheese. Tuck a strip of cheese into each pocket. Roll a strip of bacon around each sausage so the pocket and cheese are completely covered. Attach each end of the bacon to the sausage with a toothpick. Place each sausage on a kitchen fork and bake over hot coals until the bacon is cooked through. When the angel is done, remove it from the fork and put it on a sausage bun. Take out the toothpicks before eating.
BACON CHEESE DOGS
Hot dogs
Bacon
Cheese slices
Toothpicks
Cut the sausages lengthwise but not completely. Place a slice of cheese on the hot dog where you cut them; then close the hot dog and wrap a piece of bacon strip around each one and put a toothpick at each end to hold the dog together. Now put hot dog on a stick and cook over hot coals.

Seal hot dogs in foil, leaving room for cookies to expand. Place each foil packet over hot coals. Turn very 3 to 4 minutes. Check a package in 10 minutes. Serve with hot dog sauce, cheese, ketchup, mustard, or pickle relish. Make a meal with beans and French fries.
