The Gold Coast of Costa Rica

Crucible of the “Costa Dorada of Costa Rica”

Costa Rica has long been a haven for people seeking to escape from all walks of life around the planet. Guanacaste’s “Costa Dorada”, located in the northwest corner of the country, has become the destination of choice for most of these “new wave pilgrims.” They come in droves from all over the world in search of their own personal paradise and have made a home together with a way of living together in Costa Rica.

Guanacaste is by far the number one tourist destination in Costa Rica, with more than half of the country’s 1.2 million tourists visiting the region each year. The reason for these massive migrations is obvious. From the lush rainforests of the Arenal Volcano to the semi-dry rainforest and the thousands of kilometers of beaches and national parks, Guanacaste offers the greatest variety in the country and very well on the planet of natural resources, biodiversity and climatic zones. This, along with the full spectrum of modern amenities, world-class schools, ecotourism, adventure activities, and water sports, makes the region ideal for a lifetime vacation rather than a painfully short week-long vacation.

But if you are looking for the real variety of this region, you must turn to human biodiversity. People from all but one continent (although there have been sightings of a few drunken penguins) have traveled and staked their flag in the fertile land. You don’t need to look beyond local businesses to verify this diversity. There are American delis, German bakeries, Italian restaurants, French cafes, Lebanese markets, Russian hotels, Chinese restaurants and that’s just to name a few that comes to mind.

On any given night you can go to a local restaurant or bar and it is not uncommon to see a turtle activist and a developer sitting side by side arguing about how big the waves will be tomorrow. Or you can paddle the waves and hear how the greens are at the new golf course. Just walking down the street could get you invited for sunset sailing and snorkeling with live acoustic entertainment!

Most of the people who come and live here are escaping some kind of persecution. Whether from within, external, or political, we all have our reasons for landing on this sandy rock. Ask any American transplant in the area and most will say they are exhausted by the stress and fast-paced lifestyle that defines the U.S. Ask a Canadian and they’ll tell you those brutal winters take their toll and tax rates brutal motivated their migration south. Ask any of the great European delegation and you will hear a combination of quality of life, stress and taxes.

The reason they all left is irrelevant. That is why we all stay what makes us one. Costa Rica is a land that offers the tranquility of a tropical paradise along with all the modern comforts one is looking for. With over 50 years of democracy, solid infrastructure, extremely low tax rates, incredible biodiversity, hundreds of eco and adventure tourism activities, and affordable real estate prices, Costa Rica¹s

The province of Guanacaste is the ideal place to take charge of life and change latitude. So the next time you are in Costa Rica be sure to go to Guanacaste and explore all that this wonderful region has to offer. It is the land of Pura Vida (pure life) where you can meet people from all over the world and the motto is not death and taxes. It’s “No stress and less taxes!”
